Great appreciation goes out to our Race Committee volunteers, Skipper Joe Schray of KNOT QUICKLY and the first mate for the day Natalia Sizov.  It was their first time doing RC and I took them to dinner afterwards at Skippers Pier.  They had a fun time and said it was a great experience.  They learned a lot more about the starting sequence and watching boats start.  They were happy they didn't have any individual recalls or have to do a general recall.  I think the starting line length helped reduce conflict between the 3 classes with the down wind start.  It was interesting to see the fleet all take the same clockwise rotation to 84A for the first mark and how close together much of the fleet was over the distance of the race. The finish line worked well too with the wind direction, make for some last minute tack tactics important.

Additional thanks for Jim Bradshaw and Bob Spann who worked with me to review ratings, prepare preliminary scoring worksheet and results, and final results summary.  I then reviewed and corrected info in nextsailor and use the scoring tool in next sailor for analysis of the scoring tool. There is a difference in the calculated finish time, and I will work with next sailor.  But the place of finish does not differ.

If you are not a member of CHESSS, I invite you to join at https://chesss.clubexpress.com/.  and get involved in our cruising and the rest of the race events for the year:

  • HHSA Shorthanded Race - 7/29/2023
  • Naval Academy Sailing Fall Race To Oxford - 9/9/2023
  • CHESSS Last Hurrah - 10/7/2023

Special thanks to CBYRA for getting its member clubs access to next sailor.  The new race regatta platform is fairly simple to use and we have had the opportunity to provide input to making it better. CBYRA paid for licenses for CBYRA member clubs to use.  As a result, our only cost are the credit card processing fees, no other transactional fees.

If you have any other feedback, please reach out to me directly at revolution4515@gmail.com.

Cheers!
