Greetings PRSA Spring Regatta Competitors,

The Sailing Instructions have been posted.  Per section 5 of the NOR we will not have hard copies at the regatta, so please be sure to print out a copy for yourself if you want one.

Best,

Aaron (PRO)

Subject: Risk Assessment and Preliminary Weather Briefing for Saturday  Sent: 05/23/2025 11:36 pm GMT

Good evening PRSA Spring Regatta Competitor’s,

I’ll be your PRO for the weekend.  Per PRSA procedure I’m writing now to provide the preliminary risk assessment and weather outlook for Saturday.  Please note that this information will be updated at the Competitor’s Meeting.

Right now, NWS is calling for West winds of 5-10 knots, gusting to 20 knots.  A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for Saturday.

SailFlow shows WNW winds around 15 mph with gusts into the low 20s.

The water temperature is 64 degrees F and air temps are forecast to start out around 60 degrees F and warm up to 67 or so.

Low tide on Saturday is 5:00 am and high tide is 12:15 pm.

The safety zone to the East of the airport is still in effect (see diagrams on Sailing Instructions) but the “No Wake” buoys marking the north and south end of the zone along its eastern edge washed away in the high waters we had last week. Please be mindful when sailing out to the course: sail east into the channel, navigate up to the race area in the channel, and then proceed towards the middle of the river once you’re north of the runway “bump out” (visible with the rocks and rip-rap along shore at the end of that runway).

Overall the conditions look good and the risk level is low.  Please be mindful of the possibility for gusts and water temps that are not that warm.  Please remember that all competitors must wear PFDs while racing.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

Aaron

Subject: Weather Briefing and Risk Assessment for Sunday  Sent: 05/25/2025 01:31 am GMT

Good evening PRSA Spring Regatta Competitors,

Per PRSA procedure I’m writing now to provide the preliminary risk assessment and weather outlook for Sunday.  Please remember that there is *no* meeting Sunday morning.  The first warning signal will sound at 1125 per the NOR/SIs.

Right now, NWS is calling for NW winds at 5 kts.

SailFlow shows NW winds around 10 mph with gusts to 15.

The water temperature is 64 degrees F and air temps are forecast to start out around 62 degrees F and warm up to 72 or so.

High tide on Sunday is 6:48 am and low tide is at 2:19 pm.

Please remember that all competitors must wear PFDs while racing.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
