Subject: Lightning Class Membership for You and Your Crew  Sent: 06/26/2024 12:51 pm GMT

Weather forecast looks warm but with nice breeze on Saturday and a light but sailable breeze on Sunday.

Everyone – both skipper and crew – need to be members of the Lightning Class (LightningClass.org) to compete this weekend.

So, if you have not renewed your membership, please do.  Click member signin if you've ever been a member in the last 10 years and then renew your membership.

Membership for your crew is a bit different.   You first buy gift coupons at $15 each for your crew and once your payment goes through (pretty much within a minute or less) you can click the envelope coupon and mail the coupon to your crew.   So be prepared with their email addresses.  I just went through this myself and it seemed to work.

Thank you and let me know if you have any questions.

Subject: Park Arrival  Sent: 06/26/2024 02:36 pm GMT

If you plan to arrive on Friday, please be aware that the park gate closes at 8:30 pm.   So if you need to arrive later, please let us know.  Then we can ask someone (probably Aaron Boesenecker) who is camping Friday evening to get a “clicker” from the ranger that will open the gate after 830 pm. And we need to get you that person's phone number.

If you plan to arrive on Saturday, you have a new hurdle to go through .  Entry to the park has been reaching it capacity limit.  So, there will be a state policeman who will stop you if the park has reached that capacity limit.  Please tell the officer that you are “competing in the Doc Gibert regatta”.   The same applies to crew who are driving in separately.

Also be aware that the entry fee covers the car and boat entering the park but crew driving in on there own will have to pay the $10 entry fee. Makes sense to car pool.

Subject: Campers - Action Required  Sent: 06/27/2024 12:22 am GMT

Campers,

The park has said, “We are in most need of the vehicle information to ensure law enforcement on patrol during your regatta event have information on vehicles which are confirmed to be parked at the park overnight.”

So if you plan to camp, i.e. be in the park after hours, send me this information.  I will compile it all into a single group camping application and give it to the park to share with law enforcement:

Owner of vehicle's name:

Phone number:

Year:

Make:

Model:

License Plate:

State:

Send to nabeel.alsalam@gmail.com with the subject line:  Vehicle Info.   Thanks.

Please print a copy of the sailing instructions for yourself.  We will not have more than a couple of printed copies at the regatta.
