60/40 Round the Island

Dear Sailing Enthusiasts,

We are excited to invite you to the 60/40 'Round the Island Race, hosted by the Fort Walton Yacht Club, from September 22nd to 24th, 2023. This historic sailing adventure around Santa Rosa Island promises breathtaking scenery, camaraderie, warm waters, and favorable winds. Don't miss out on the chance to be part of this exhilarating event.

Event Details:
Date: September 22-24, 2023
Location: Fort Walton Yacht Club

Highlights of the Event:
- Friday: 
  - 5-6 PM: Check-in and Late Registration at the FWYC Gazebo
  - 6-7:30 PM: Skippers Meeting and Welcome Social at FWYC

- Saturday: 
  - 60-mile race starting from FWYC, passing through Destin Pass and Pensacola Pass, and finishing at Key Sailing on Quietwater Beach.
  - 'Bermuda' start format, with Hobie 16's and WETA's departing at sunrise, followed by faster boats starting progressively later. Your finish order determines your score.

- Saturday Evening:
  - Enjoy a gourmet dinner at the finish line.

- Sunday Morning:
  - 7:30 AM: Start the 40-mile race back to Fort Walton Beach along the scenic intercoastal waterway.
  - Progressive starting times will create a closely-knit fleet at the FWYC finish line for awards and camaraderie.

Additional Information:
 - Trophies, food, and refreshments await you at the FWYC gazebo after your race finishes.
 - Sign up before September 1st to avail of the entry discount.
 - Your Cat Trax and dry clothes bags will be transported to the finish lines.
 - Limited housing and sleeping aboard FWYC boats can be arranged.

For added convenience, the 60/40 'Round the Island Race follows the Juana's Good Time Regatta by two weeks. If you plan to participate in both events, you can leave your boats at the FWYC.
