Subject: Provisional Day 1 Scores Posted & Day 2 Weather Outlook Sent: 05/23/2026 11:12 pm GMT Hello PRSA Spring Regatta Competitors,
Day 1 scores are posted on the regatta website. Looking ahead to Sunday, remember that there is no competitor’s meeting. The first warning is at 1125. Given the current wind forecast, we will not likely go as far north on the river as we did today. Here’s what I’m seeing for conditions on Sunday:
NWS Forecast: NE winds around 5 knots. Showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms. Air Temps: high 50s rising to high 60s and maybe even reaching low 70s later in the afternoon Water Temps: expected to trend down a few degrees more given current weather and upriver conditions Tide: low at 1000 and high at 1614 Notes: SailFlow models vary quite a bit, and most are quite different than the NWS forecast. Most SailFlow models show SW winds, moving W later in the day (but they agree with the NWS that winds will be light). Scattered showers are possible.

Subject: Spring Regatta PRO Risk Assessment & Preliminary Weather Briefing Sent: 05/22/2026 10:03 pm GMT Hello PRSA Spring Regatta Competitors, I am writing with the PRO Safety Assessment & Preliminary Weather Briefing for the weekend. Any updates to this information will be provided at the Saturday morning Competitor's Meeting.
Saturday NWS Forecast: East winds 10 knots. Rain. Air Temps: mid 50s (F) Water Temps: 73F, trending down from a high near 80 earlier in the week Tide: low at 0859 and high at 1510 Notes: some models show a more consistent NE breeze with the potential for gusts into the teens or low 20s. Some periods of rain may be moderate to heavy, but there is no current forecast that severe weather. With the colder temps throughout the day and near continual rain, along with the chance for some gusty winds, the risk is moderate. Please dress to stay dry and stay warm all day long, as it will be wet and a bit chilly.
Sunday NWS Forecast: SE winds 5 knots. Rain. Air Temps: high 50s rising to high 60s (F) over the afternoon Water Temps: expected to trend down a few degrees more given current weather and upriver conditions Tide: low at 1000 and high at 1614 Notes: some models show very light winds throughout the day. Models vary on the frequency of showers, with some showing good chances for a bit of sunshine later in the afternoon.
I will see you Saturday morning at the Competitors’ Meeting (1000 near the cranes in the dry sail area).
